I’m raising \u00a3500 to Support our fabulous venue, Winchester Road Methodist Church.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Winchester Road Methodist Church is a much-needed community space in Highams Park. They serve every generation through the activities they host, from babies to retirees. It is a place where all are welcome.<\/p>\n

Introduction by our Minister: Rev Stephanie Njeru<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n
I\u2019m Rev Stephanie Njeru, the minister at Winchester Road.<\/p>\n

I moved into the area in the middle of the pandemic, August 2020 to be minister to three other churches. Since September 2022 I have pastoral care of Winchester Road, Lighthouse in Walthamstow and Leyton Methodist Churches.<\/p>\n

Our family, my husband, myself and our son, moved along with many pets, from Scotland.\u00a0 I met my husband Zak after I had taken time out of studies to do missionary work in Kenya where I worked as a chaplain in a Girls secondary boarding school and went on to work in Mombasa Methodist church.<\/p>\n

In between study and ministry I was a Probation Officer with Essex Probation for five years.\u00a0 My life has not been dull!\u00a0 It is these experiences, and ones of fostering while growing up, that have given me a passion for social justice, equality, equity, diversity and inclusion and I am fortunate enough to be on working groups for the Justice, Dignity and Solidarity strategy (JDS).<\/p>\n

My other passions are gardening (I\u2019m a \u2018plant and hope\u2019 sort of gardener), crafts, and if I get time perhaps a little baking or sweet making.\u00a0 I would like to learn to ball room dancing but I know I will never manage to get to go on Strictly.<\/p>\n

Winchester Road I have found to be a very welcoming place.\u00a0 There is an innate energy to help others, grounded within and because of the journey of peoples\u2019 faith.\u00a0 Raising money and resources for food banks and charities, sending a substantial number of shoe boxes to children in Eastern European countries for Christmas, welcoming a new Ukrainian congregation, and recently voting to host Same Sex Weddings, all embedded into who we are as a faithful community.<\/p>\n

I am excited to be part of the life, mission and ministry of this vibrant and welcoming church.<\/td>\n
